Bike Trip Preparation

Physical Preparation

There are three parts to preparation; Physical,equipment, and route planning.

My general plan was to get up each morning at about 7:00 AM to avoid the heat and ride from 1 and a half to two and a half hours before breakfast five days a week.

I ate a banana before riding, and took a granola bar with me in case I needed more nourishment.

On the one and one half hour days twice a week I stopped at the Wellness Center and worked out on the weight machines of an hour.

On Sundays, weather permitting, I rode for 50-67 miles. On days when the weather precluded riding, I worked out for an hour on my stationary bicycle. I followed this general plan except for times when we were away or had visitors.
